With 10 looks for each designers, the Concept Korea Fall/ Winter 2013 show at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week tents gave the packed audience ample sampling of South Korea’s finest. The designers Choi Bo Ko, Hon Bum Kim, Song Jun Wan, Lei Sang Bong, and Kathleen Kye were all hand picked by fashion industry leaders. The show was given the header of “Rhythm of Korea” and the designers hit all the high notes with their collections.
Starting with Choi Bo Ko the collection was full of abstract designs in black and white with spikes of red. The collection included relax fit over coats, dresses and accents of leather and fur.
The collections Cres. E Dim. by Hon Bum Kim was sleek with a downtown vibe. Leather trims on trench coats in black and layering of a skirt over pants in a deep burgundy was essence of the collection.
Song Jung Wan’s collection was feminine, and light. With soft fabrics like fur, wool and chiffon it was uptown chic. The colors beginning with grays and creams ended in deep blues and royal purples.
Lie Sang Bong stunned the audience with a large white illuminated disk like hat and matching white shift. The rest of the collection was modern city, with neoprene jackets, bold patterns and geometric graphic prints.
With the final of the show Kathleen’s KYE collection was graffiti laden, street smart and full of color. The use of a bright blue fur and a bright colored graffiti print was eye awakening.
